Most online calculators get this wrong. The Chinese zodiac year doesn't start on January 1st — it follows the lunar calendar and changes each year somewhere between late January and mid-February. If you were born in that window, half the internet has been telling you the wrong animal.
Your animal is only half the story. The element — wood, fire, earth, metal, water — modifies it. A Wood Tiger and a Metal Tiger are different temperaments. Together, animal and element repeat once every sixty years.
